Saturday, day 3

Gastronomic & Cultural Experience in Antigua

First, you will accompany our Maya chef as she shops for the ingredients needed to prepare the lunch you will enjoy at midday. During this visit, your soul will be revived by an explosion of colors — from the wide variety of fruits and vegetables to the traditional attire of the Maya women who come to sell their products. Afterwards, you will not only learn how to prepare delicious dishes from ancestral Maya cuisine, but you will also help cook them before sharing the meal with the chef’s family. In the afternoon, you will visit several villages around the valley while enjoying beautiful landscapes before returning to your hotel. (OPTION: If you prefer, you may replace the gastronomic tour with a full day at Hobbitenango, a charming theme park inspired by Tolkien’s novels, located at 2,800 meters above sea level and offering beautiful scenery and activities.)

Exploration of the Mayan ruins of Iximché — the birthplace of Guatemala — and return to Antigua

On your way back to beautiful Antigua Guatemala, you will stop to explore the ruins of Iximché, accompanied by our Mayan guide. Founded between 400 BC and 200 AD, this ancient city later became the Maya‑Cakchiquel capital and witnessed the arrival of the conquistadors, who established the first capital of Central America here in 1524 — the birthplace of Guatemala’s rich cultural fusion. After this journey through history, enjoy a free afternoon to relax in Antigua before your overnight stay
